Americans make up only 5% of the world's population, but one-quarter of its prisoners.

 

Criminal Justice Reform is one of the few bipartisan issues of our time. The Independent Counsel Project seeks to address the under-examined role of local, front-line prosecutors in the system by educating lawyers and non-lawyers alike about prosecutorial discretion, its limits, and its ability to decrease incarceration while positively impacting the people we would otherwise lock away.
